Vinyasa YTT: Teaching as Storytelling with Julie Peters
The secret to a great Vinyasa yoga class is intelligent, safe sequencing that tells a story. Students feel held, supported, and challenged no matter what their experience level or ability, and they always leave with a glow, saying, “That was exactly what I needed!”
In this Vinyasa Teacher Training course, yoga teacher and writer Julie Peters uses the principles of storytelling to illuminate the hidden “grammar” of a yoga class. Without any previous experience studying narrative, you’ll learn the trick of telling the same story to your students’ bodies as well as their minds. Simple, practical tips and tools will help you understand how a Vinyasa practice can work for a range of students. In addition, you’ll learn to authentically weave a theme or story through a class in a way that feels natural to who you are as a teacher. Please come with a journal and ready to practice.
This teacher training is valued at 14 hours towards Yoga Alliance CEUs.

Julie Peters (E-RYT 500, MA) has been practising yoga for more than two decades, and co-owns Ocean and Crow Yoga studio with her mom, Jane. She teaches a range of class styles as well as teacher trainings and yoga teacher mentorships. Also a writer with a master’s in English Literature, she has a biweekly column with Spirituality and Health Magazine called Downward Blog. Julie is also the author of the book Secrets of the Eternal Moon Phase Goddesses: Meditations on Desire, Relationships, and the Art of Being Broken (Skylight Paths 2016).
